The Dog and His Reflection

Aesop’s fable·~140 words·~1 min read

A greedy dog wants two bones and ends up with none.

A dog found a big bone near a house. He was very happy. He picked it up in his mouth and ran home to eat it alone.

On the way he came to a small bridge over a river. He looked down into the water and saw another dog with another bone.

Of course, it was only himself in the water. But the dog did not understand this. He wanted that second bone too.

He opened his mouth to grab it. His own bone fell into the river and was lost. Now he had no bone at all, and he went home hungry.

Moral: If you are greedy, you can lose what you already have.
