Privacy Policy

What Classicly is

Classicly is a free reading plan for twelve classic books, plus a small library of quotes and book pages. The reading tools (dashboard, progress tracking, quizzes) require a free account. The public pages (books, quotes, this page) do not.

What we collect

If you create an account, we store:

• Your email address, so we can sign you in and send magic links.
• Your reading progress: which book you are on, current page, completed chapters, quiz attempts and scores.
• The date you joined.

If you visit any page without an account, we do not store anything about you personally. We do count anonymous page views (see Analytics below).

What we do not collect

• No name, age, location, gender, phone number or any other personal detail beyond your email.
• No payment information. The plan is free; there is nothing to charge you for.
• No third-party trackers. No Facebook pixel, no Google Analytics tracking pixel, no advertising network tags.

Cookies

Classicly uses two small categories of cookies, and only the strictly necessary kind:

• Session cookie (essential). When you sign in, your browser stores a short token so that the site knows you are logged in. Without it, the dashboard would log you out on every page click. This cookie is set by Supabase, our authentication provider, and expires automatically.
• Anonymous analytics (not a tracking cookie). Our hosting provider (Vercel) counts anonymous page views to show us how many people are using the site. It does not set a tracking cookie on your browser, does not follow you across other websites, and does not link the count to your account.

We do not use marketing cookies, advertising cookies or any third-party tracking. Because the only cookie set on your browser is the essential session cookie, we do not show a cookie consent banner.

How we use your email

We use your email for one thing only: to send you a magic sign-in link when you log in. We do not subscribe you to a newsletter, do not pass your email to any third party, and do not send marketing emails uninvited. If, in the future, we add an optional reading-reminders email, it will be off by default and you will choose whether to turn it on.

Where your data lives

Your account and reading progress are stored in Supabase, a managed Postgres database. Supabase runs on AWS in the US (Ohio). Our hosting and email delivery (Resend) are also US-based. If you are located in the EU or UK, your data crosses the Atlantic to be stored.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• Tell you what data we have about you.
• Delete your account and everything we store about you.
• Export your reading progress as a JSON file.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything substantial, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where it affects existing accounts, send an email. We do not believe in changing privacy quietly.
